Almost all of the posts you’ve read until now are related to the life in the very center of Kaş. However, if you want to get away from the crowds and experience the quiet and peaceful rural life in pure nature there are perfect alternatives in the immediate vicinity to Kaş. Maybe the most convenient one is the Çukurbağ Village. This is one of the best places for the ones who are looking for an alternative vacation in Kaş with its nature, easy access, clean and fresh air, decent residents, lovely valley and greenery scenery.
When you hear the name Çukurbağ, first thing coming to your mind will probably be the Çukurbağ Peninsula which has coasts looking over to Gökseki and Kastellorizo Island. But the one I mention in this post is a village located in almost 10 kilometers distance to Kaş. And we are lucky that this is not a village ambience, this is actually a village where you can have access to the natural products of the farmers living here. It’s also full of almond trees so it looks like it’s under snow in the first half of March every year because of the almond blossoms. Elbademi Farm, cultivating many products with organic farming including almonds, olives, legumes, walnuts, vegetables and herbs, is located in this village too.
AYDER foundation’s social responsibility project of Dreams Academy’s (Düşler Akademisi) Kaş branch is also located in the Çukurbağ Village. It is a village academy operating in the old Çukurbağ Primary School since 2013 and provides alternative, innovative and sustainable services such as free education, production and shared/integrated life experiences to individuals and groups who have been excluded for reasons mainly disability or chronic illnesses. All operations in the academy are run on a volunteering basis. It is a learning by experience center. I recommend you to follow them on social media in order to get information about the events, exhibitions and organizations like charity sales.
Speaking of volunteering, would you like to visit the Animal Shelter while you’re in Kaş? You can follow the Facebook page of Kaş Animal Friends Charity and learn the needs and upcoming events and maybe return back home with a little adopted friend. 😉 There is a little office/shop of the foundation in the Bus Terminal. But the Shelter itself is in Ağullu district and of course, it’s very close to Çukurbağ Village.
If you like or want to try horse riding, there is a Horse Farm in the village. Even if you don’t have any experience about horse riding, you can still try it together with the experienced instructors and trained horses. You can even ride to the eye of our super hero Sleeping Giant. It’s an almost two hours journey on the Lycian Way and in pure nature. You will never forget the experience of looking over to Kaş and Kastellorizo from a Giant’s eye. After the tour you can drink your tea/coffee prepared on the wood fire as a rest and relaxation break.
So if you are interested in finding an accommodation in this village close to the center of Kaş and being in touch with the nature, there are many apart houses and exclusive villas. I ensure you that being so close to the turquoise but living in the quietest green will be a heavenly experience. Also being close to every attraction including the stars in the sky in the comfort of your house will change your understanding of an ideal vacation. We may have a surprise to you as Kaş Crush this season. So stay tuned!
